Apple Cider Vinegar

Why does apple cider vinegar work? Well, because it contains Acetic Acid. Most people’s bodies are too alkaline. One way to know if maybe your body is too alkaline or to acidic is to check for symptoms.

Alkalosis is when your body has too many bases. It can occur due to decreased blood levels of carbon dioxide, which is an acid. It can also occur due to increased blood levels of bicarbonate, which is a base.

Symptoms of alkalosis can include any of the following:
Confusion (can progress to stupor or coma).
Hand tremor.
Lightheadedness.
Muscle twitching.
Nausea, vomiting.
Numbness or tingling in the face, hands, or feet.
Prolonged muscle spasms

Some of the common symptoms of metabolic acidosis include the following:
Rapid and shallow breathing.
Confusion.
Fatigue.
Headache.
Sleepiness.
Lack of appetite.
Jaundice.
Increased heart rate.

Now the pH of acetic acid is 2.5, which is very low (the pH of stomach acid is 1.5 to 3.5), and that is why apple cider vinegar is good for you. If you have heartburn for instance, (occurs when your stomach is too alkaline) the valve on the top of your stomach does not close and the stomach acid comes out the top. So if you have heartburn, acid reflux and things like that, take some apple cider vinegar (ACV) and see how much better you feel.

Now as we age the pH in our stomach increases (becomes more alkaline) so we need more acid to normalize the stomach pH to be able to digest the foods we eat, like protein, and to absorb minerals like calcium. When alkaline increases, the calcium starts building up in the soft tissues, which causes us to stiffen up and get arthritic and a host of other things.
You remember that saying “Stress can kill you.” Well here are some reasons why. With high stress our body becomes more alkaline and produces high cortisol. Following re some of the things that happen to our bodies when we are stressed.

An alkaline body:

* Blocks calcium

Your body is unable to use the calcium, and it builds up in your
body. Even if you take a calcium supplement it won’t help
because your body is too alkaline.

* Leg cramps

* Nerve pain that radiates like neuritis or arthritis

* Loss of potassium

Symptoms of potassium deficiency include:
High blood pressure
Constipation
Feeling weak
Irregular heartbeat

To be clear, ACV does not cure these issues. It brings the body back to more-normal levels.

So why worry about this if you are younger? Well if you are younger and doing low carb diets or eating a lot of protein, one of the things that happens is the waste from the proteins (called guanidine, which is very alkaline) Sometimes people that do low-carb diets complain that they are stiff. ACV helps with this because it brings your body back to a more normal pH balance.

So, how do you use ACV? Well some will add 2 teaspoons ACV to 8 oz. water 1 tsp. lemon juice and 1 tsp pure cranberry juice. Take this 3 times a day before you eat. I have heard it is hard on the enamel of your teeth so you may want to drink it with a straw. I just put 2 tsp. ACV in a shot glass and take it plain. It is not the most pleasant experience in the world but it gets the job done. Then I can wash it down with some water. The best kind of ACV contains? Organic, unfiltered apple cider vinegar (like Bragg’s) also contains “mother,” strands of proteins, enzymes and friendly bacteria that give the product a murky, cobweb-like appearance. Shake it up real good then drink.

Please remember, I am not a doctor and if you have any medical issues you should see your doctor. Just remember, there are quite a few things we do in this WOE that regular medical doctors disagree with. It is my opinion that in time they will see that the conventional way they think and ways in which they were taught will come around and they will be willing to do the research and accept our WOE/WOL.
